Brief Introduction of AKSHAYA PATRA

AKSHAYA PATRA is an NGO established in 2000. Enabling Hunger free Education for nearly 1.3 million Children in India

AKSHAYA PATRA成立于2000年，是一个已经通过提供午餐帮助将近130万儿童免于辍学的非政府组织(NGO)。

In June 2000, AKSHAYA PATRA started mid-day meal program in Bangalore by feeding 1500 children in 5 schools. At that time there was no State run school meal program in Karnataka. Within a few short weeks we had received hundreds of requests from teachers who expressed the dire need of such a scheme.                                                                                             

2000年6月，AKSHAYA PATRA在班加罗尔开始了午餐计划，为5所学校的1500名儿童提供午餐。当时，KARNATAKA还没有州立学校的午餐计划。在短短几周内，组织便收到了来自上百老师的请求，他们表达了对此项援助计划的需要和渴望。

This over whelming response was the impetus for the growth of The Akshaya Patra Foundation.

这个势不可挡的回应成为了成立AKSHAYA PATRA 基金会（TAPF）的推动力。

Our mission is to reach out to 5 million children by 2020.

组织的目标是在2020年前使得500万儿童得到免费午餐。

The surest way to break out of the cycle of poverty is through education. Education can significantly improve the quality of life of a family for generations to come. When the basic needs of a child, such as food are not met, education often becomes the last priority.

拜托贫困的最好的方法莫过于教育。教育可以显著的提升一个家庭下一代的生活的质量。当一个孩子最基本的需求，比如食物，都无法被满足的时候，教育往往成了水中之月。

We are helping underprivileged children by providing them with a healthy, balanced meal that they would otherwise have to work for. The meal is an incentive for them to continue their education. It helps reduce the dropout rate to an enormous extent and increases classroom attendance.

AKSHAYA PATRA通过为贫困儿童提供一顿健康、营养搭配合理的午餐使他们免于辍学在家。对于这些儿童来说，一顿午餐成为了他们能够持续接受教育的保证。这将帮助大大降低失学率，使更多的孩子出现在教室中接受教育。

The kitchen is at the heart of our work. With close to 1.2 million meals prepared everyday throughout India, they are highly mechanized and scalable. Often termed as Intelligently Engineered Kitchens, they were built with a commitment to quality and hygiene that ensures the best possible food for the children.

厨房是AKSHAYA PATRA工作的核心----每天印度地区的120万顿午餐在这里准备，因此，每一间厨房是高度机器化和可扩展的。通常来说，诸如智能控制厨房之类的要严格遵守质量和卫生标准而建成，以确保为儿童健康卫生的食物。

Each one is uniquely tailored to meet the requirements of its location, so that the meal provided is suited to the regional preferences of the children.

每一间厨房都是根据方位选择的不同而独特的设计，以确保午餐可以通过合理的路线送到不同区域的孩子手中。

There are two types of kitchens: centralized and decentralized.

AKSHAYA PATRA共有2种类型的厨房：集中化和非集中化厨房

Currently, the foundation has set up 15 centralized and 3 de-centralized kitchens across 8 states.

目前，该组织在8个州共建成了15处集中化厨房和3处非集中化厨房。
